I guess most of you were on the show floor conducting business at the time, but the highlight for day two was undoubtedly Bill Griffith's presentation on Zippy the Pinhead. This was my first SPX and I had a great time...hey, I'm starting to be able to identify most of the active DCC guys by face...by name, that may take a little longer. Thanks guys for letting me hang out and for your encouragement on my work. Nice to meet you in person, finally, Jawajaja, Dale Rawlings; nice to see Patrick, Jason Rodriquez, Matt Dembicki and John Coswell again, and anyone else I may have forgot. I look forward to the next meeting!

and please, people, I beg of you....."Accept Provolone into Your Life."

Oh, we're having fun, all right.  This year's SPX was totally awesome.  I just finished my con report, complete with lots of photos of everyone I ran into:

If I missed anyone in my report, let me know and I'll add you lickety-split.

It was good to meet everybody. I think I bent Patrick and Dale's ears a little more than I meant to on Saturday night, but it was great to talk comics and creativity with like-minded people and I do tend to get carried away.

Overall, SPX was a really positive experience and watching the floor from the other side of the vendor's table is completely different than wandering around the floor for several hours (as I have done in years past).

Hey Matt R, you made it!  Glad we got a chance to talk before the floor opened up on Saturday.  Here's a purple smiley for ya:

Krissy and I stopped by on Saturday and tried to chat up everybody.  We each bought a LOT of comics.  My personal highlight might have been meeting Nick Gurewich of Perry Bible Fellowship fame and picking up his book, but I got a bunch of really awesome new stuff.  Some very FUNNY books this year.

I wish I could have stayed longer just to make it into people's photos.  I had a wedding to go to (not mine).

awesome stuff! I was very impressed with everyone's display of books, it made me excited to think about joining you guys at other conventions when I every get my book done. had a lot of fun, bought a lot of books, met a lot of very cool people.

John, you totally spaced when I went up to your booth, I thought that was funny that you didn't remember me cause of my hair cut. lol sorry.
Scott told me to write my name on my tag, and that seemed to help people for the rest of the day. lol

John - Yeah, I made it. Email is still easier for me to keep track of, but you go where the people are, I suppose. It was good to chat with you, too. I haven't made it to your book yet. I just finished reading the book that the guy next to me was selling, so I'm a little bit behind.

It's funny, someone came up to me on Friday and told me that he was trying to start something that would help comics creators in and around DC. I asked him if he'd heard of the Conspiracy and he said "I just found out about them today." On Saturday night, I was talking to the Sequential Tarts webmistress and told her about the Conspiracy (which she hadn't heard of) and told her the story of last year's event, when you guys found out about a different group of comics people doing another event on the same day down the street. She thought that was very funny. Four different groups of comics people in Arlington (the Sequential Tarts webmistess lives in Arlington, which means that ST is based in Arlington), operating more or less indepent of each other. Small world.

I'm the one who should be sorry, Becca.  I was batting 1.000 on remembering people until I blanked out when you stopped by.  Talk about embarrassing.  headonwall

Funny about the Tarts since for about a year I kept posting reminders about our meetings on their messageboard.

I had a great SPX. A lot of fun - Saturday night was a great time, too. My pictures didn't come out all that well and I didn't take too many anyway. All good - the show will live forever in my heart.

Folks seemed to really dig the DCC monster booklet. (Thanks, John, for coordinating that and getting it to the printer!) We'll definitely have to revisit it for next year!

It was all fun and games until Dean Tripp betrayed me. Then there was the whole crucified and dying thing.

But I'm back!
