This sounds like a increadible opportunity, so check it out!
Arch Development has started an Artist in Residency Program. I've met with Amy from Arch, and I was pleased to hear her excitment about this project. Read the following for more information to learn more. This will become a valuble asset to DC's art scene!
Artist in Residency Program:
Arch Development Corporation has designed a new and unique way to provide affordable housing to DC artists while supporting communities at risk. Newly renovated live/workspace will be offered as part of the Inaugural Arch Artist in Residency Program. Over the next year Arch will be offering affordable housing to DC/Metropolitan area artists and as part of its artists housing initiative. Arch is delighted to announce that it has recently partnered with the Covenant House Washington Artisans Program and will be seeking qualified woodworkers to join the program. Residents will be offered free live/work space in Anacostia for one year. Click here for more information to
apply
.
Please check back to our site for more affordable housing opportunities for artists in the near future. This program was made possible through the
DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

So this program and spaces will only be open to woodworkers or artists who work in wood, or is that one and the same?

My understanding is that they are open to many types of artists, in addition to wood working artists. I've emailed arch, so I'm sure they will reply with more info soon.

This Amy from Arch. Just to clarify to all; the program is open at this point to only one woodworker. Within this 2006 year we will open another residency slot to a visual arts, quite possibly a photographer. Please feel free to contact me at any time and visit the Arch website for more details on how to apply: Further, we are hoping to have more affordable housing options for dc artists in the future!
