Only You, the pop song originally recorded by The Platters conjures up thoughts of romance.  The familiar melody and lyrics have become a shared cultural reference over the years, it is a song that can be sung, if not out loud, with some part of it in mind, a humming ear worm in your brain.  A similar familiarity and theme of connection is a jumping off point for this collection of dances which explore networks, reciprocity and even the intimacy of surroundings.

ONLY YOU, a performance by Jane Franklin Dance takes place in the heart of the Green Valley neighborhood at Arlington’s blackbox Theatre on the Run  We invite audiences to join us for a concert of new and recent works on June 4 and June 5, 2022. Performance in response to NVFAA exhibit by Darren Smith (abstract constructs) and Oenone Hammersley (abstract on unconventional shaped canvas)
Bits and Pieces is a performance of new works inspired by artworks by Oenone Hammersley and Darren Smith, alongside recent repertory about attraction and partnership.
Darren Smith – “My work rewards the viewer with visual surprises.”  Smith’s photographic works inspire fractured and reconstructed movement. Comforting symmetry contrasts with the unexpected.
Oenone Hammersley – “the focus is on our natural resources in particular water and trees.”  Water is explored through American folk music forms. The choreography contrasts extremes of drought and deluge.
Forty+  presents a new dance by Andie deVaulx. The piece examines resilience and the urge to travel and find new vistas. The work is performed by dancers past the age of 40.
"Tales of Moria" choreographed by Philip Baraoidan is a work that explores the consequences of fate meddling in relationships. With weight-sharing, touch, and fluid movements, fleeting partnerships emerge and dissolve.
A new work by Company | E artist Horizon Miguel, “8H Aquarius Moon" is an exploration of a personal, astrological placement and its relation to affection, intimacy and validation.

Jane Franklin Dance presents The View From Here,  a program of new and recent works that resonate with Arlington’s outdoor venue, Lubber Run Amphitheatre. With a premiere work by award-winning choreographer Rob Priore, a season opening commission by Philip Baraoidan, and a recent work inspired by Arlington itself, sit back and embrace fall at Lubber Run.

The connotation of “eyesore”, an unpleasant sight in a public place, spins in Jane Franklin’s community inspired work EyeSoar.  Space is getting tighter and longtime businesses nestle within changes and new development in an industrial neighborhood.  EyeSoar is a tribute to the S Four Mile Run Drive, Arlington neighborhood, its landscape and the people who call it home.
Forty+, a group of performers past the age of 40, bring to life “This is My Voice”, a poem by Shane Koycan. Brynna Wilder’s “This One Is Mine” explores what it means to “make your voice heard.” We all have thoughts, opinions, and voices; all different and all beautifully unique. “This is my voice, there are many like it, but this one is mine.”
"Tales of Moria" choreographed by Philip Baraoidan is a work commissioned by Jane Franklin Dance, to open the 2021/2022 Season. The piece explores the consequences of fate meddling in relationships. Are we destined to be in partnerships because of our choices or are we on a predetermined track to meet people? With weight-sharing, touch, fluid movements, and storytelling the dance weaves an exciting motif of fleeting partnerships.
Rob Priore premiers a new work for Jane Franklin Dance that explores themes of commitment and expression.  Serious fun ensues.  Be ready for surprising movement and a delightful take on partnership.

In “Family Photos” with music by Steven Rogers, dancers are paired with projections, images from the performer's childhood or from a past generation. The dissolving images hint at the passage of time and the persistence of change.  The audience observes from the enclosed space of the smaller gallery, and then follows the dance as it resolves in the main gallery.

Forty+  presents a new dance by Roxann Morgan Rowley. The piece examines ideas of resilience, a relevant theme of change as we move from Covid-19 restrictions to rediscoveries. The work is performed by dancers past the age of 40.
