Draw anything lately?
« on: July 18, 2007, 01:46:25 PM »
Where's the ART?  I have a blast seeing folks' sketchbooks at the meetings but I'm sure almost all of us have plenty of stuff we don't bring or haven't brought.

For instance, I did a Sketch a Day recently for a month on my blog.  They're compiled here:

Examples:

I'd love to see what other folks are working on.  Feel free to start your own thread, too, of course.

Yeah, I've been working on Liquid Revolver...and you? :) (Love that DD sketch, BTW.)

Check out our Web site, www.dcconspiracy.com. There's been a ton of stuff uploaded within the last week. We should remember to update that site as it's our public face.

I've been doing a weekly bit where I hop on the metro and sketch something (mostly someone) I see. Lots of good material there and makes you sketch fast because what you're drawing could get up and leave anytime. Here's the first two.

i don't really draw that much as of late, but i used to draw constantly.  these days i do sometimes find myself bored to tears AND with a piece of paper handy.  these are some of those drawings:

Thanks JawaJawJaJ.

Halo - I have a special place in my heart for quick doodles made out of boredom...I think they're some of the most fascinating things people draw, overall.

I made these at the Bar last night.

For some reason they enraged the bar back but everyone else liked them a lot.

Basically I was making them at the bar but keeping the mess and the product confined to the section of the bar where me and my friends (all regulars on Wednesday nights) had our drinks and not on the part where the bartender works.
I finished up my last one and was gathering up the trash, which I had been keeping in nice little piles, and was getting up to throw the trash out when she wandered over and said something along the lines of "Get that shit off of the bar."
The thing was the bartender (who is the reason I go there Wednesdays) didn't care, their boss who sees us there every Wednesday didn't care and encouraged me to give them to the bartender.
We go there regularly so I know how the bar back is, the nice way to put it is gruff and tactless, she's very black or white about most situations.

Ah, Everyone's a critic.

I finally got back to drawing this week after an almost two-month hiatus  :smt103 ...mostly a lot of penciling work for "Clarity," but a few individual drawings as well.  I'll fish one or two recent ones out of my sketchbooks tonight and post'em.

My new Idea for a short graphic novel (called Fieldpointe), based on my paranoia of zombies. Particularly the ones in my backyard graveyard, who are only kept under wraps by the cold ruthlessness of the Fieldpoint Landlord, Rachel Ramsay.
Ii'll start this fall- behold the first few thumbnail sketches…

I drove here today.

That's a neat idea Becca.
You should check out the movie "Cemetary Man" it's an Italian horror film which ahs a similar idea init but it is played more to create a wierd sureal environment and metaphore.

Awesome! i'll have to check it out.
everything that's going to happen in these book is true... well except for the zombies. Our landlord really does have an awesome name Rachel Remsay, I love that. lol I think i'll just call her Ramsay throughout.

I'll try to remember to bring the Cemetary Man DVD for you to borrow.

I hope you make and PRINT the zombie comic, Becca.

Ah... Cemetery Man is definitely one of great overlooked zombie movies of the 90's. And damn that ending is great. Have you seen a New Zealand zombie movie called Undead? Its an uneven film but has a unique twist on the zombie phenomenon and some great visuals in the last act. I also have a screener for a b grade zombie movie in a box full of screeners that I get here at the shop which I plan to give to all you fellow conspirators. I'll be sure to set aside the zombie flick for you Becca.

I was a little disapointed with Undead. It has its moments but eh. To me it was trying to be too much like Peter Jackson's Dead Alive, except not as good. The best part is the last five minutes, If they had scrapt the rest of the movie and started it from there it would have been great.

Here is some of the stuff I've been working on lately
