It may be too soon to ask about the details, but does the Counter Culture Fest typically have a registration fee?

I'm sure Matt is still working out details for how this one is handled, but in the past we've charged for table space and that went straight to the performers. If we have a rental fee I'm sure that'll be considered, too, but the DCC itself does not take any money from registration fees. We charge the minimum to keep it running.

WOW! I am excited. Thanks for being so thoughtful about the selling/exposure of comics. That is very important. Have never been to RDF before, but from what the reaction is, it sounds like a really great spot and also a smart choice to be near Metro.

I like the idea of having this show after SPX and Baltimore because then we can promote! I can help with flyers when the time comes.

Oct 23rd sounds great. Nice and far away from early summer.
Now that my wedding stuff is over, Iím going to get my art on. My computerís HD fried up a week before my wedding, so thatís still in the process of being fixed (since I havenít had the time for it), so I should be back up soon.
God I really fill like Iím living in the stone age, no computer for my art, just my hands!?! Anyway, Iíll work on a ton of stuff over the summer to have something for Fall. Got a few more ideaís Iím kicking around, just gotta follow through with them.
REM~
I drove here today.

It's official - we've confirmed the venue and the date.

The Fifth Counter Culture Festival will be held on Sunday, October 24th at RFD's in Chinatown. We're aiming to have the festival from 12-8 pm.

(Note the change in date from previous announcements.)

We're actively looking for flier designs.

Also, we will be opening up registration on or about the middle of July.

One thing I would love to see on the flier - at least on one side of it - is a small map showing where the venue is in relation to the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station.

I'm happy to announce that we're opening up table registration for the festival, effective immediately. We have two kinds of tables: small tables (3 foot by 3 foot) and large tables (6 foot by 3 foot). The small tables are $25 and the large tables are $40. I will be at the Sign of the Whale tomorrow night if anyone wants to drop off money.

Space is limited, but feel free to spread the word.

Who has the list of last year's vendors?

It is. My Paypal address is oletheros@yahoo.com. Please provide your name, email address, website (if you want it published for the show) and the size of table that you want.

Just a reminder: registration is still open for this. We have a lot of tables open.

Also: who's working on a flier design?

Why doesit cost so much for tables this year? Are we paying RFD or have certain acts been lined up?

Yes, we have already booked some acts (DJs and sideshow performers) and will start printing flyers and posters as soon as the advertising design is complete.  With this year's event taking place in DC proper in a very busy area (Chinatown), we are expecting that the increased foot traffic balances the slight increase in costs.

If the cost of the event is a burden, please contact me directly to discuss - We want this to be a robust show, and would hate for anyone to be left out.

As a follow up to the flier, I'd really like to get some kind of map on the reverse side for when we hand them out on the street in Chinatown. Something like this:

(Obviously, someone with much better design skills could mock up something better, but this gives you an idea of what I'm thinking of.)

I posted another thread about the Counter Culture Fest in the main event section on the artdc.org forum...
http://artdc.org/forum/index.php?topic=14049.0

So, if you create a promotional poster please post it to that thread (as well as this one).

Sent in my money, and I'll see if I can't draw up something flier appropriate this weekend.
