General Art Discussion / Re: Forum sections.
« on: November 30, 2012, 02:10:27 AM »
Sorry those darn crickets were too loud.

I do come to the forum for the resources and advice. The only thing I look to the collaborator section for is Artomatic and that just ended a day or so ago. I'm still sorting through my AOM stuff from this year!

So maybe swap the two sections in their forum order.

Artist opportunities / Re: Make this board public?
« on: November 30, 2012, 01:58:26 AM »
I say open it up! (I thought it was public already)

To register for the site is like signing up for a newsletter nowadays. Which allows artists so many opportunities in itself! (I've met so many great fellow artists through the site.) You can view free listings on so many other sites. Let's raise the SEO because this board is much more awesomer!!

-2 cents Russ!

July 23 - August 31, 2012
Reception: Friday, July 27th 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Artist Talk: Saturday, August 18th 5pm - 7pm

Originally a participant in the Gallery’s April 2011 exhibition Mama Earth, Russ McIntosh has successfully expanded his portfolio and reach. His work has been featured in local exhibitions such as Artomatic 2012 and Flashpoint’s Adventure Residency Art Show, as well as throughout the United States from The Billboard Art Project in San Bernardino, CA to the 4×6 Exhibit at The Art Gallery in Grand Junction, CO. Russ McIntosh has also received a variety of honors and awards, this year he received a Juror’s Honorable Mention Award for each piece at the following shows: It’s a Wonderful World?, Impressions, and Altered State. Russ also does work by commission, actively blogs, and is always looking to advise emerging artists.

Per the Double Take theme, of his work McIntosh states: “The essence of my art is for the viewer to look deep within my images to find something much more than what they originally saw upon the initial view of the pieces. The images I have created have many layers in them, and though at first glance the main composition does register with them, it is upon further reflection that the viewer can see “hidden images” that were originally unnoticeable.”

As I was de-installing yesterday, I noticed I had a little silver skull left with my postcards. Is there any meaning to this? I thought it was cool and have it next to my BRASH poem in my studio.
