Arlington County is seeking arts /craft instructors to teach recreational classes and workshops in a wide variety of media. We have excellent facilities including a full woodshop, ceramic / wheel studio, jewelry studio, a darkroom and a printing press.

We have a need for the following classes / topics:
•Bead stringing
•Sewing / basic skills or project driven
•Knitting / crocheting
•Surface Design / Fiber Arts
•Painting / Drawing / mixed media classes
•Any project driven one or two day workshop (think Pinterest or DIY)
•ANY kid classes -- all age ranges (2-5, 6-12, 8-14, 10-16)
•Any classes you already teach, that you would like to reach a new customer base

Art instructors are encouraged to submit class proposals.

Things to keep in mind / more information:
•Class proposals can be for children, teens, adults and families.
•Classes for children are held during afterschool time (typically between 2:00 and 5:00pm); and weekends.
•Classes for teens and adults are typically in the evenings and weekends.

Information we need to consider your class proposal / idea - needs to be included in your email:
1.Class title
2.Class description
3.Tool / supplies that you will need (include specific equipment ex: jewelry tools)
4.Length of time per session
5.How many sessions
6.Preferred day of week and time you have available
7.Age group class is designed for

Position requires combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university in an Arts related major.

Previous teaching experience is preferred; appropriate certification in the anticipated field of instruction is a plus.

Must have skill in teaching, leading, and motivating groups; be responsible, dependable, and punctual; have excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; be able to understand, carry out, and provide written and oral directions; and be able to work within the policies and guidelines set by Arlington County.

You must be able to work with class participants in a positive, courteous, and professional manner. You must be safety conscious and committed to providing a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants of the program.

Salary range is: $18.38 - $23.38
