a pallet tip - blue painter's tape
« on: October 17, 2008, 10:52:12 AM »
i was talking to a friend as he was demonstrating his oil painting during an opening this past weekend, and i saw a neat-o little tip on his wooden pallet. he squeezed all his paint onto a strip of 2-3 inch wide blue painter's tape that was on the perimeter of his pallet, but still mixed in the center field on the wooden surface. he said it stops that heavy build up that oil painters deal with over a few sessions without scraping it all clean.

When it gets to messy and dry, he lifts up the tape, and puts new down. The center mixing area is cleaned each session with a light scrub of turps...

I'm an old dude (46), but this was new to me.
