Artist opportunities / Wanted: Artist for CD Cover Art
« on: April 06, 2016, 07:45:59 PM »

My band IRITIS is looking for someone to help flesh out a CD cover design for our upcoming CD. We wanted to work with a local artist and I thought this was a wonderful opportunity to find a person from for all the artists I've interacted with at Artomatic and on this forum !!

We have the basic idea and concept and we need someone to help finalize it. There is some artistic freedom but we'd like to stick as close as possible to the concept.

Ideally we'd sit down and talk through what we're looking for and then help render that.

If you're interested please reply with a link to your work and Private Message me your rate for such a piece. We are only looking for a digital rendering of the art.

Thanks so much in advance.

Photo Discussion / Camera Purchase Advice Needed
« on: November 23, 2015, 10:58:55 AM »

I was hoping for some feedback. I have been using a Canon T1i with a stock zoom lens for my photography with some decent results. I primarily shoot bands in clubs and family events. I'm not a professional photographer but a serious hobbyist. I am looking to upgrade to something that suits my current requirements plus can be used to make music videos and short films.

I was looking at the Sony a7s ii for it slow light capability. The issue I have is that its really expensive and there aren't too many lenses for it. Yes you can buy adapters, but then you aren't able to use the native features of the Sony.

The other option was Canon 5D MKIII which has a really good reputation for an all around camera and has been the defacto for many people for years now. Some are looking for the MKIV which is to have 4K internal recording. Canon of course has tons and tons of lenses and a proven track record. Even in the comparisons, it comes out as a better overall camera but the Sony far exceeds ANY camera in the low light department.

So what's your advice ?

Go with the Sony a7s ii coz it will pay off down the road for short films and band pics in dark clubs and its Slo Mo and internal 4K for a hobbyist like me

Save some cash, get the 5DMKIII and spend on lenses and lighting props and such which will pay off in the long run ?

Its this week !!! Come one come call to this glorious event of exciting music and fractal art

Hello !!

So last year I was primarily fixated on Fractals and Fractal Videos. This year in an attempt to make a decent design for my CD Cover, I started playing around with Photoshop.

I'll be posting my covers here for people to see. I ended up making a few in the search of getting a decent cover ....

Most of these are created using Stock pictures and some personal pics. However some were created using Non-Stock pics and I did that just to play and practice techniques and they are not for commercial use

Most of these will follow some kinda of thematic development as I played around with some themes and made variations of the same with small differences. But on the whole I've tried to cover a large selection of concepts. Hopefully this is enjoyable and inspiring to others out there.

You can follow me on these sites, if you so wish. I'll be posting stuff there as well :
Starting out with a Guitar piece :hbang:

I liked this theme of a boardwalk leading to something. You'll see a lot of that repeating in future pieces.

These next ones I went with the "Gaussian Blur the background" effect and a fractal in the front. These were titled "Wormholes"

More in the next installment

Hi Jesse:

Most of my fractal pieces are rendered at 3000 x 2250 [4:3] at this point, unless I'm trying to print T-Shirts at which point I need them rendered at 6000 x 4500.

Yeah takes a good amount of time to render those ....

Thanks Jess !! Oddly enough, that piece takes the longest to render and my server often errors out while rendering those pixel pieces. All the other ones which look a lot more complex seem to be easier on the CPU.

I entered the Beats Antique Video contest for "Make your own video for Dragon's Eye" and created this
