Very nice, looks like it needs to be seen in person to get all the subtleties.

Hi -

It's good to be in touch again.  Thanks for checking out the painting.

It's a mixed-media painting - fairly smooth physical texture and many layers, though in person you can see the paint strokes and quite a lolt more luminosity.

I am experiencing a recurrence of the cancer, but I'm not letting it get me down (most of the time).

I like this painting, Ev! It sounds like just the types of painting I like--with thick brush strokes and lots of bright color! It looks like it may have some sparkle to it.

Jesse and I have been wondering how you are doing. Please continue to keep painting, and don't let things get you down.

Thanks for commenting all my supporters, nice to hear from you all.  I am more positive than you might think given some even more recent health setbacks.  I'm determined to stay creative and productive.  I also hope to get back into the artdc community more regularly soon.   :smt045

what is the medium?  It looks like encaustic. Heavy and waxy and yummy like that.

The first of these last two like a flash moment caught in the middle of a blosseming satori.
The second riddled with myths, glyphs, winding cuniform god-laws, and instructions for the hunt.
Both make some of the most beautiful sounds I have seen in the abstract theatre 'round these parts!

This last one has this E.T. like face on the left and if you follow the J shape in the center up and to the right you find a blue droplet of water. Not sure what it means ..but's interesting to look at and it's enjoyable with all of the Miro like automatic surealist scribbles.

Thanks for commenting. Jeanette, they are mixed-media.  Not as much physical texture as you might think.  Kid, man your comments encourage me greatly.  Hudson - I forgot about that drop!  I'm a bg fan of drops and other ovoid shapes - they're so feminine.

It's good to be painting and back in touch again.

fascinating paintings. can you share a little about them. medium? size? do i see some collage in the bottom one?.
i have never done an "abstract". is that the correct term for these?. i wouldn't even know how to go about it...but you certainly do.
what motivates you to paint in this "style" ( for lack of a better word)?

Online JPEGs often don't do justice to paintings, and I have the feeling that that's especially true of yours.  I find myself leaning in close to the screen trying to see more details, to grasp the texture, to understand the layering...

Then sometimes I lean back and see animals and symbols, figures and faces, genitals and hieroglyphs...

Glad you're back, and hope your health gets better and better.
Art, like morality, consists in drawing the line somewhere. -- Gilbert K. Chesterton
