Art in Context: Iran
« on: October 10, 2017, 02:11:31 PM »
Wednesday, October 11, 7-9pm

Join us for a panel discussion on Iranian and Iranian-American culture, identity, and the broader conditions impacting creative work and partnerships. Panelists include Bahar Jalehmahmoudi, an Iranian-American artist who works as an installation artist and sculptor, and Shahrooz Shekaraubi, Founder and President of the Aftab Committee. The conversation will be moderated by Nazila Fathi, reporter and author of The Lonely War: One Woman's Account of the Struggle for Modern Iran.

The Art in Context series is part of IA&A's International Partnership Initiative, developed in 2013 to prioritize international work between U.S. arts institutions and their counterparts abroad by creating a forum for discussion and discovery among leaders in the arts, academic, diplomatic, and policy communities. Art in Context showcases artists and cultural organizations in the broader social, economic, and political context in which they exist.
