FLUX Press release:

In the metaphorical sea of urban America, artists have been drifting
away with the tide, as sterile office buildings and chain franchises
sail in and the rents skyrocket. In the latest area to fall victim to
such conformity, Arlington’s Clarendon neighborhood, the Art Outlet is
partnering with Walnut Street Development, artdc.org, Arlington
Independent Media (AIM) and DC Conspiracy to cast the large anchor with
its “Flux: An Art Sensory Overload” from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on
Saturday, January 27, at the Danville Body Shop, 1415 N. Danville
Street in Arlington, VA 22201.

Flux was a positive event.  There was a buz in the air.  An energy.  To pin it down, there was a great number of people who were excited about art and music.  There were a wide range of people there.  An impromptu hip-hip performance out front, locals, artists, people from DC.  In the entire time I was there, the energy was all positive.

I enjoyed the opportunity to show several of my some what recent pictures to friends of mine.  There's something exciting about showing your work on someone else's wall.  I was equally happy to seen works that I had heard about or art that I have seen in the artdc.org gallery like Brad's can tab chair.

To step it up another notch, I was even more happy to watch artists network!  Friendships were made, art sold, and we all had a good time.

As I often post, DC and the areas around are a great place to be.  There's a future and some where to go.  I look forward to the next Art Outlet event.

More to come and a solid future.

Plus.  Did anyone see the naked chocolate girl?

Absolutely, Jesse!

The buzz before the show was palatable and continued on past the end.  Flux was the most fun I've had at an art event in a very long time.  Like most really good events, the audience, the artists, the staff, and the volunteers all were equally responsible for the success and everyone contributed to the fun.

And yes, we saw Chocolate Girl.  Taste aside, even -she- contributed in a positive way.

Naked Chocolate Girl was pretty cool!  We talked for a while...that was the first time she showed her art.

Huh.  I wonder if she has a web site.

The fire dancers (also artdc.org members) were also a great attraction.  It was amazing to see the entire parking lot filled with people over flowing onto the balcony / parking lot next door.  I was really glad to see this go flawlessly.

Arlington county cruised by, stopped to look, and didn't bother the event.

There was no reason for the cops to stop, because everyone behaved themselves!  It was great!

It was awesome!  Saw a lot of friends, met new people, saw cool bands and artwork, a lot of people I'd told about the show actually came, which was the most surprising, I think.  It had the energy of Artomatic!

I enjoyed the Parlor Scouts.  I like it when people do something a bit different from the norm.  I guess I find the same sort of happiness from art or music that steps out.

Yeah. It's cool that we have these two active community arts groups!  Some places don't even have one....

I got to nibble a little bit from her arm I think? Or maybe it was from the shoulder.

… sounds more naughty that it actually was.
