15 voters total.  Cool.  Here's the break down of the votes.
Feel free to check my math.  I started out by creating a tally of each vote.
5 votes or more, and the image is in.  If an image has less and you'd like to see it added, post why you would like this and how it fits in with the show and we can all discuss the issue.  Let's aim for 10 to 12 images for the show.  Either way, we need to narrow the show down by an image or so..

Image - # of votes:

1  - 9
2  - 6
3  - 4
4  - 6
5  - 3
6  - 3
7  - 1
8  - 11
9  - 3
10 - 7
11 - 3
12 - 2
13 - 1
14 - 8
15 - 7
16 - 2
17 - 6
18 - 4
19 - 6
20 - 12
21 - 5
22 - 6
23
24 - 5
25 - 4
26 - 4
27 - 2

To look at what we have, here's a list of the images with 5 or more votes.

Take a look at the images and think about how they work together.  Pick the 3 that don't fit, to narrow it down.  If the show were only to have 5 images, that would be fine, we want them to be as strong as possible as a group..

i like 10 and 24 but when i look at all the images together as a whole those two don't seem to quite fit (imo).

Yeah.  I agree.  for me it would be 10, 22, 24.
I love the works on their own, but I think for the flow of the show, I wouldn't include them
It's tough to be objective and selective about art work for a show.

i relooked at 22. i like it. i think i had picked it originally but now when i look again the color (perhaps?) doesn't seem to flow cohesively with the others.

i feel bad even writing this cause i know that we artists have feelings and our work is very personal for us......i mean, i'd love to be in this show (#18) and am pleased that some voted for my art...but.......what can you do...if i am, i am.......if not.......

  so.......please to the artists/#'s i didn't pick.........i am sorry....

why can't we just have shows of all the works nominated since there are never a gazillion nominated anyway.....i know.....it's just like "real" art world call for entry....sometimes you make it, sometimes you don't.......but.......this is "us".....so maybe we can think about that for the future (imho).

I think we all know that we're being objective here, and that no one should have hurt feelings.  This project is about creating awesome cohesive shows, not just picking our friends work.  That's why we originially instituted to the no pick your own work rule.

The goal is to 1 select work that fits a theme, but that doesn't make a cohesive show, so then we narrow it down to make a show where the images work together.  The most valuble thing about this process is not just the end show, but us working together to make selections.  So that we as a group look at all of this art and talk about it.

the three that I would remove:

10, 24, 22

It is always a hard task to select down, as you sometimes eliminate your personal favorite.

I would remove 4, 10, 21, and 24.  All EXCELLENT work, but not a fit for this.

I like the dark quality about 4.  Hanging by a string.  Maybe to me it just looks good with the other images.  What sticks out for you?

I completely agree about 10, 21, and 24  Let's pull 22 also..   Then I think we have a wrap..

I know, I really love that piece (4).  I guess I thought it worked conceptually better, with say, some of Scott Brooks' work.  Nice dark themes, less about the elemental theme of this show, tho, and more in keeping with the previous (current) show.

I'm flexible, though.  It doesn't seem that far off the mark to me.  And I must say that even with this piece, I find the show to be very cohesive.

I know I'm a little late, but here's a little more opinion from me:

I agree with all that's been said about #24 and #10, and the colors of #22 are different than the rest.

My one feeling is that #17 feels a little unbalanced when paired up with the other selections. Without discrediting the technical aspects of the shot, I just can't feel the same kind of drama when I'm looking at it as I do when I view the others.

Jesse I had a conversation with John Lucien. He suggested that #17 would be stronger upside down, I think he's right. If it's for sure going in the online show and you agree witht the suggestion feel free to flip it.

We could do that.  :)  Sorry for the delay in this.  I've been bogged down.  If anyone would like to help speed it up, I'd love it if someone could grab the images directly from the gallery.  Clicking on the image to get the full res copy,, then resize to 600 pixels at the widest dimension.  Then we need to code the credits which is a simple href link to both the profile using their member name a break, then a link to the image in the gallery with the title as the link then two breaks..  Any interest?

I could help do it after work today. I can download the images and resize them easily enough. Which ones should I do?
