Art Outlet / Call to Artists - E-Mail Us Your Dreams!
« on: September 14, 2009, 02:16:13 PM »
Dreams and artists...what's more natural? Or more better? Head Cinema is a natural and more better US (Art Outlet)/German (Der Kunstladen , The Art Shop) artists' swap meet showcasing German and US artists' explorations of dreams and dreaming. Computer Geeks DC is a sponsor of the show.

http://artoutlet.org/news/events/head-cinema

The Art Shop artists will show us their dream stuff and Washington area artists will return the favor during a live webcam reception October 17, from 2-4 (EST) at the Capitol Skyline Hotel in SW DC's Skyline Lounge and Magnolia Room.

The dreamy art (live performance and prerecorded audio, video and still images) and everyone sipping cocktails, confabbing, and taking in the show (tell your cousin in Mannheim to show up and give you a shout out) will be broadcasted live (big enough screen!) during the reception. DJ CJ Weaver will spin dreamy ambient tunes!

Call to Artists - E-Mail Us Your Dreams!

We are seeking audio, video or still photography cell phone art that explores dreaming to project during the reception and send to The Art Shop to show at future dates.

You may send jpeg images and/or 15 – 60 second audio (mp3) or videoclips (mpeg) about dreams. This is a curated exhibition with no registration fee .

Ideally, your digital files should not exceed 5MB. If larger, please use yousendit.com.

E-mail us your dreams at dreams@artoutlet.org.

Art Outlet / Art & Recycled Materials
« on: March 19, 2009, 03:46:42 PM »
A good friend of mine, pointed me to this helpful resource.

Need Free Art Material?
Choose To Reuse Your "Trash" is a local grassroots effort to reuse material rather than trash it.  Material that is ripe for reuse includes broken pottery, drycleaning bags, styrofoam trays, styrofoam blocks, styrofoam sheets, aluminum pie pans, cotton t-shirts with holes, incandescent Christmas lights, and mixed media items like tennis ball containers.  If you need these or other material for art projects, send an email to reuseyourtrash@gmail.com with the material that you would like, your email, phone number, the address where you would like materials delivered, and the hours that are good for delivery.  Material must be items that would otherwise be thrown into the trash, not a commodity that would be accepted at Goodwill.  The posting will be added to an online directory at http://choosetoreuse.googlepages.com and if desired may be collected at the group's annual Trash-to-Treasure Drive.

Art Outlet / Register for FLIK interactive and FLIK 2008.
« on: June 27, 2008, 07:13:55 PM »

Deadline: July 1
Computing, virtual worlds, online social networking, and mechanical and electronic technologies have transformed how we humans hook up and how we view the world. FLIK interactive will reflect on these technologies and forms of computer mediated social interaction.

For FLIK 2008, Art Outlet has formally partnered with the Art Whino Gallery to expand upon last year’s success by expanding the call out to a wider variety of moviemakers. There will be more screenings, a larger venue, a coinciding interactive exhibit, and a licensing of the program to allow for screenings both locally and internationally – thus expanding exposure for the selected filmmakers.
