Lessons from Red Horse & the Battle of the Little Bighorn
Scott Sagan, professor of political science at Stanford University and chair of the New Dilemmas in Ethics, Technology, and War project at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, will discuss how the vivid and candid artwork of Red Horse, a Minneconjou Sioux warrior who fought at the 1876 Battle of the Little Bighorn also known as Custer s Last Stand can not only help us gain insight into the past, but also better understand contemporary warfare in the age of fast paced technology.

Film, Theater, and Dance / Forty+ or Minus

Welcome to a mix of generations as Jane Franklin Dance combines with Forty+, performers past the age of 40, and young dancers.  New works tap into what it means to be of 'your generation.' Have you heard of shorthand, the practical precursor of voice to text?  Whether cassette tape, VHS, or other technology pushed away over time, some are left Shorthanded on the march to the newest of the new.  Mothers and young children perform together in “Camping Along, plus look for guest appearances by local youth performing groups.

Film, Theater, and Dance / The Big Meow - Jane Franklin Dance
« Last post by janefranklin on November 15, 2017, 12:29:54 PM »
Join Jane Franklin Dance for a performance of The Big Meow, the story of an ever-hopeful fluff ball who desperately wants to belong to the band of neighborhood cats.  The Big Meow is a story of hope, disappointment, courage and the need for belonging.  These simple themes are part of every neighborhood, but in this wonderful tale told through the experiences of Little Cat, a potential weakness is a unique strength.
