I do notice this as a common thing now a days. And I will admit that while I haven't submitted any of my work, I have checked out the 'contests'. I'm an avid photographer and visit many photog sites every day and some of them have monthly contests where the winner gets $100 and their photo on the site. I was wondering if one would consider this type of contest as spec work or not? The one part of me says 'yes' because they are getting more traffic to their site of people checking out the winners like I do. I personally don't submit because it takes time to either shoot a photo or find a photo in my library to submit and time costs me money.

Yeah,  I wouldn't submit either, I'm glad I'm not the only one...

What a day it would be come if we got all contractors to compete.  Hahaha..
