i like to exhibit new work at aom.
a while ago i was walking through my neighborhood on big bulk pickup day and saw some wonderful (round) wood). since i like to use found objects (and also recycle) when i make art, i took them to my studio.
they waited there for a while as i pondered what to do with them.
and then.....viola.......i knew what i wanted to create......mandalas for aom!
so....in the last 3 weeks i made 6 mandalas......a lot of intensive work (but great fun) in my studio.
helena who has been following the progress of all the mandalas said to me: " you are such an amazingly talented artist to make 6 mandalas in such a short time". how cute is that....she is my biggest fan .these photos can all be linked back to my flickr
mandala 1
mixed media on wood: dolls (some weathered in my garden), one wrapped in hospital casting material), acrylic paint, twine, nails, carpet tacks, beads, bone, shells, spider, doll heads, collaged paper. straight pins, safety pins
36" round X 5" depth
because i photographed it head on some of the pieces do not show up as clearly as they do when you are actually looking at it.
the color of some of the dolls is because i had them in my garden and let sun, wind, rain, snow age them.
and yes...i did rip off the heads!
