District Nomad at the Listening Room
« on: March 14, 2017, 10:48:47 PM »
District Nomad formed in 2013 while playing at The Kreeger Museum in Northwest Washington DC. Made up of four musicians with a variety of musical backgrounds, the quartet draws inspiration from the classical repertoire, traditional jazz standards, experimental and other world music. The group will perform a re-orchestration of Olivier Messiaen's work The Quartet for the End of Time for Electric Guitar, Electric Bass, Percussion and Violin which seeks to expand on the sentiments expressed in the music by further exploring the timbral and dynamic possibilities offered by modern instruments.

Musicians Gary Prince, Chris Brown, Sarah Foard and Manny Arciniega offer an exciting re-interpretation of this ‘timeless’ piece as the human race faces new threats of intolerance and fascism, serving as a reminder that music can overcome any obstacle and soar above any wall.

Tickets $15. Available on the Parks and Recreation E-Store or at the door.
