The Cygnus-M Experience
« on: May 02, 2012, 01:08:50 PM »
So this year I decided to do a little more with my wall, as compared to Artomatic 2009.

Oh hello ... I'm Rahul [Cygnus-M] and I'm an Artoholic. Welcome to my little corner, where I hope to post my Artomatic Experience.

Genesis:

At the beginning there was the Wall and the Wall was good. And I was much pleased with the Wall. And I looked upon it and said. "let there be Light !" and a tube-light dimly flickered illuminating the surroundings. And I said. "Let there be life" just as a bug flew into the light covering and spiraled down after its unsuccessful attempt at attaining salvation ... and after the 7th min ... I took rest  :smt004

The Wall:

So far, I've not been able to do anything due to my work schedule. We've been working overtime like crazy and on weekends too, so my plans for the wall have gradually slipped to much simpler options. Last time, I draped a cloth over the partition. Then I put my art into clear sheets and nailed in all my artwork to the wall.
That was pretty much the extent of my presentation. Which wasn't too bad I thought. It shad some kind of symmetry at the time.

Aaahhhh ... just back from Shift #1 and it was fun <hey that rhymes!>. Walked around the floor and helped some artists out and saw some fantastic art. It never ceases to amaze me the different kinds of medium people use to express themselves !

Well ... while I wait for the weekend to roll around to update my wall ... I did participate in the Artomatic "build me a poster" competition. So here are my entries. This is with the old information [old venue and dates] but you get the idea. I'm pretty brand new to Photoshop so this was an exciting venture for me.

Let me know which one you liked best out of the lot

Enjoy  :smt004

ARTivicus :: Chapter 1: Verse 1: And on this day Ye shall bring forth the creamy goodness that is paint and slather it all over the uprising that is the wall. This shall be your offering. Prime the offering and it shall be accepted.

So I obeyed the good word ....

Step #1 : Set up the music system !!

Step #2 : Blue Taped the site ... took 30~45 mins ...

Step #3 : Supplies for the work ...

Step#4 : Tools of the trade ...

Problem #1 : Ran out  of PRIMER half way through. Miscalculated the amount  :headonwall:

Step #5 : Went out and bought some more Primer ...

Step #6 : A Primed Wall ...while it dries

Step #7 : Put on the first coat ... went with the deep red since quite a few in my lot had used Black already .....

Step #8 : Second Coat ... and it looks good. Allowing it to dry overnight ....

Tomorrow we start the hanging .... of the art ...

Thanks Jesse !!

ARTivicus :: Chapter 2: Verse 1: And on this day Ye shall hang thy fruits of labor and let others feast their eyes. Feed the masses, you must.

So hanging day ... went pretty well I thought ...

Step #1: Placing the pieces where I think they should sit ...

Step #2: Tools, the ruler, level meter, hammer, Blue Tape, scissors ... you know, you know

Step #3: Level, level, level .... damn straight lines !!

Step #4: Finito .... for now !!

Step #5: Side Wall ....

Step #6: Main Wall ....

This week .... Lights and Electronics :)

Artiviticus Chapter 3: Verse One : AND DONE .....

I completed  my entire install today  :smt082 ... I can't believe it !! The electronics and lights got done today. Went in by 3:00 pm and by 8:00 pm I was done.

For security:

For the digital frame I drilled a hole through the frame [wood] and put a wire through it and clamped it around the pipe. Hopefully its Anti-Theft.

For the TV, I got that really big wire from Lowes and wrapped it around the TV and then the desk stand and locked it tight. Hopefully that keeps it secure  :smt004

Completed Wall

What I'm displaying this year:
