This duo show will exhibit amazing works of two very important sculptors from the DC metro area.  They are both developing new and exciting techniques to push their work in a wonderful direction.  They are exploring surfaces in dramatically different ways.  We think they contrast nicely with each other.  Both are gentle and delicate in unique ways, opposing  paper food trash and the raw power of steel.  Take this opportunity view an important movement.  For many years we've been concerned with the study of new surfaces, now these artists are experimenting with materials and techniques to develop something different and exciting.

Our hours rotate.  We're still getting our schedule ironed out.
For the install we'll be there at noon, but really, you should come to the opening since we'll be very busy assembling the show.
If anyone wants to set up an appointment, please do PM or email me.

No problem, I thought April 5 was the first day of the show. I didn't know it was also installation day. No biggie.
I'll be out of town Easter weekend so no opening. Just post a couple of pics (of the art) after it's installed.

I would have loved to have seen the photo show but that never worked out. Living in Tysons, it's a 45 minute trek around the beltway to Hyattsville (each way). So, visiting the gallery is a good half day committment.

Have you thought about making a gallery website where you post pics of the art in each show?
It would make the art more accessible and you could take paypal for purchases. Just a thought.

Yes it's a possibility, in the plans but more as a dedicated section of this site.  The goal is to use the wonderful branding that we already have.  DC's too segmented as it is.  Though we really want to make sure that people come to see the art!

It's a drive, but it's worth it!  We'll get you out sooner or later.

We installed the show, and I have to say it looks quite amazing.  I hope to see all of you there.
Years in the making, we now have a space, and some really outstanding art in it.

Come support the artists.
Come buy some art.
Come support artdc.org!

I took this last night.  I'm very excited - it looks great, especially at night.

The show looks great! Having sculptures in a show really allows for some fun in arranging this space.

This afternoon I dropped off some cards that advertise the show at a coffee shop. I set a few of them down next to a coffee urn, with Lexi's coffee filter sculpture photo face up. Hopefully they will spark some attention.

Another fine show -- an inspired pairing of two very different materials and processes.

Some photos from the opening:

And a few more Disco Pole photos:

Great shots, Tom! You are becoming a master at taking those disco pole shots! I really like the second one up from the bottom--the picture of Barry, the gazelle and the coffee filters.

Tom, the photos are great!  And I'm glad you explained the disco-pole - I could not figure out how the heck you took them!   :smt102
Now it makes sense.

I was about to post that I'd added some photos from the opening to my blog, but since they're the same ones Tom alread posted here (my camera battery died just before the show...), I'm a bit redundant.

I think the space is going to be open again this coming Friday night (24th?) because there's an event next door - I'll be there again if anyone wants to stop by.  Hopefully Jesse can add the exact date and times, but I'll be heading over after work, so I'll probably get there around 7 pm.

This is a gem of a show and worth the trip.  Both artists have really solid work and the presentation is top notch.  There's also one of the area's best brewpubs a couple of blocks away--- http://www.franklinsbrewery.com/.  Their Anarchy Ale is worth a special trip.
